Recently watched program "The Magic Pill" on Netflix; if you google it online, there are many articles dragging the creator's ideas, but I would suggest others watch this documentary with an open mind. The documentary highlights the keto diet, but I will say keto diet and paleo diet are not that far apart.

For the past 4 months I have been on a relatively loyal paleo-based diet and have seen many improvements in my energy levels, skin, and overall health. As someone who has been on a weath of different diets throughout my life, I can honestly say I have seen most reliability (i.e. ability to adapt/stick to the diet) and improvement with this one. If nothing else, cutting out/reducing packaged food and sugar consumption is something I would highly reccommend to others.

IMO this documentary was well done, and if nothing else gives a cautionary warning about the dangers of excess processed food/carbohydrates in the human diet and their connections to a wealth of common illnesses. Anyone who is or is considering becoming vegetarian or vegan for ethical or environmental reasons, I would highly stress you watch this documentary. Currently a full version of the documentary is up on YouTube, so I will post it below, but realize it may get pulled for copyright so watch as soon as you can (if you don't have Netflix).

I'm not a huge fan of "diets," as they often push one narrative of eating and revolve around one goal, losing weight. I personally don't believe there is any one right way of eating, and people thrive on a variety of eating patterns. That being said, I'm glad you are feeling better on a paleo-diet.

I've been avoiding this thread, but I really am glad you're feeling better on whatever that diet is. There is a woman at the office on the keto diet, which I think is killing her, instead of helping. There is nothing wrong with some meat on the ole bones.

The best diet in the world, in my humble opinion, is eating, meat, vegetables, grains, legumes and fruits, with a HEALTHY serving of getting off the couch, away from the damn phones and computers, and outside moving, exercising, working, or doing something that produces sweat, sore muscles, and tiredness.

I do agree with getting rid of processed foods, but that's one part of the overall balance we all need.

Glad you're feeling better.

Imo a keto diet is not sustainable; that isnt to say any strict diet is "sustainable", but in particular the keto diet centers around eating excessive fats in order to enter "ketosis", a stage where the body can burn fats. I was on the keto diet for a little bit also, but it really isn't doable--you're not supposed to have ANY sugars as the second you eat them it is almost gurenteed to kick you out of ketosis. Getting into ketosis is extremely difficult, you're almost better off fasting as eating enough fat to get you there just isn't easy. Fasting would probably get you there sooner, and while I have seen fasting help some people, it really isn't for everyone and it serves a very specific purpose (it is by no means a lifestyle).

Even though I am following a paleo diet, I have never been someone who follows any diet religiously--it just doesn't work. I still have carbohydrates and sugars, and even processed foods, just in moderation.

If anyone who watches this documentary should take away something from it, I believe it is news to many people that cancer cells feed on glucose (sugars), and they can't feed on oxygen the way normal cells do.
